Choose Bali if you want to be somewhere beautiful and barely move. Choose Vietnam if you would rather see a country than a resort. That is the real difference, and it matters more than the cost gap.
Both are among the most-booked international honeymoons from India, and they are far less alike than the brochures suggest.
Which is cheaper?
Vietnam, by roughly 20–30% for a comparable seven nights.
| Bali | Vietnam | |
|---|---|---|
| Our package, per person, twin sharing | From ₹89,000 (7 nights) | From ₹1,18,000 (Vietnam & Cambodia, longer itinerary) |
| Return flights from India | ₹28,000–45,000 | ₹22,000–38,000 |
| Good 4-star, per night | ₹6,000–9,000 | ₹4,000–7,000 |
| Private pool villa, per night | ₹18,000–25,000 | ₹12,000–18,000 |
| Dinner for two, mid-range | ₹2,500–4,000 | ₹1,200–2,500 |
| Visa | Visa on arrival, ~₹5,600 | E-visa, ~₹2,300 |
The gap narrows if you spend Vietnam’s savings on a Ha Long Bay overnight cruise and a Hoi An beach resort — which most couples do.
Which involves less travelling?
Bali, decisively. Bali is one island and two bases; Vietnam is a 1,650 km country, and a first-visit itinerary usually means Hanoi, Ha Long, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City with two internal flights. Our eleven-day Vietnam and Cambodia itinerary runs the same north-to-south line and finishes at Angkor.
If the honeymoon is meant to be a rest after the wedding, that difference is the whole decision.
Which is better for a private pool villa?
Bali. It is the thing Bali does better than almost anywhere in Asia, and it is the reason the island holds its price. Vietnam’s resorts are excellent — Danang and Phu Quoc especially — but the private-villa-with-plunge-pool category is deeper and better value in Bali.
Which has better food?
Vietnam, and it is not close. It is also markedly easier for Indian vegetarians once you learn to ask about fish sauce. Bali’s restaurant scene in Seminyak and Ubud is genuinely good but priced for Western visitors.
Which is better in the monsoon months?
Neither is straightforward, and their seasons do not line up:
- Bali: dry April–September, wet October–March.
- Vietnam: no single national season. The north is best September–November and March–April; the centre floods October–November; the south is dry December–April.
For a July or August honeymoon, Bali is the safer choice. For December or January, Vietnam’s south and centre are excellent while Bali is in its wet season. Bali’s month-by-month detail is in the best time to visit Bali guide.
So which should you pick?
Bali if: it is your first international trip together, you want one villa and a short list of days out, you are travelling for seven nights or fewer, or the point is to do very little.
Vietnam if: you have nine nights or more, you both like cities and food, you want the trip to feel like a journey, or your budget is fixed and you want more for it.
Whichever way it lands, the itineraries themselves are on the Bali honeymoon packages page and the Vietnam tour packages page.
